Merry Christmas

To the new world of 2020 by Robert-dean:House
.
The year was 1964 in a small town called Ray, Minnesota, just twenty miles south of International Falls.  The second grade class of the Ray school shared a room with the first grade as the third and fourth and lastly the fifth and sixth, the three-room schoolhouse still stands there today.
.
On the Friday before Christmas, the second-grade class finally had their debut for which they had been practicing for the last two weeks.
.
The small auditorium was filled to include standing room and after the opening prayer was given all sat quietly for the Nativity program.
.
All but one of the small children had an on-stage scene, and even though he did not know it at the time, he had the biggest role.
.
The audience was kind and Intuitive as the nervous and excited students performed their one hour program.
.
As the program ended and the curtain was closed the people all applauded, but then it happened.  They knew not who and fell silent once again and those who were still sitting now stood in amazement as they listened to the single trumpet play a perfect ending to the program and the day.
.
Taps.
.
At its conclusion, all stood silent and in awe.
.
As the little boy stepped out on the floor from beside the stage, the crowd went wild and I could see the tears in my mother’s eyes and happiness on my father’s face seeming to say,  Finally, the practice is over.
.
Merry Christmas and have a Wonderful and Fruitful New Year.
