First, number your fingers and thumb on both hands, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, as shown above.
The left-hand, finger-number, of the joined fingers in this example, is the number you want to multiply by the right-hand, finger-number of the right hand.
As in this example, 7 x 8, as shown.
Next, add the 2 joined fingers to the fingers below as the first number in the answer you seek —- as in this case, 2 + 3 = 5 (tens) or 50 .
Now multiply the number of fingers above the two joined fingers, together, and add the sum you get to the number of tens you already have — as in this case, 3 x 2 = 6 giving you the answer for 7 x 8 = 56 .
Note: the answer is found in the number of fingers both above and below the two joined fingers ( excepting for 6 x 6 = 36 ).

Now do the same for 9 x 9 ; or, 2 + 6 = 8 (tens) or 80 + ( 1 x 1 = 1 ) for a total of 81 .
——- For 6 x 9 ; or, 2 + 3 = 5 (tens) or 50 + ( 4 x 1 = 4 ) for a toal of 54 .
